This month Ella has been to the woods a lot to skip through the bluebells and jump in the mud with Miles. Her favourite wood is Abbey Wood, where there is a ruined abbey, and a fossil bed containing sharks' teeth and shells from 55 million years ago. (Ella has found many examples.) Also this month Ella watched caterpillars turn into butterflies, which she then released in the garden with Tiffany and Tabitha; took part in the Blackheath Music Competition, playing two pieces on the piano; and played on the Wii Fit, beating everyone at the tightrope-walking game. She read "The Weirdstone of Brisingamen" and started on its sequel. She played "Professor Layton and the Curious Village" on the DS (a collection of brain teasers). She also watched the Indiana Jones trilogy, in preparation for the fourth film's imminent release. Ella wants to be an archaeologist, but emphasises her desire to be a "scientific archaeologist" rather than the kind with a whip who has to fight baddies, and other scary stuff.
